Software Training

Dimensional Job AnalysisTM typically does not require individualized training because the input and reporting functions are menu-driven and the user’s manual covers set up and maintenance functions with clarity and sufficient detail. However, for those individuals who request individualized training, we make it available at a fee of $125 per hour via telephone. Clients set an appointment and call us at the appointed hour. In these cases we estimate the training time to be one to three hours, depending on the individual’s familiarity with Windows 95®.

Dimensional Job GradingTM typically requires two hours of training on systems procedures. Clients are expected to have loaded the system; reviewed the trainer’s manual; familiarized themselves with the screens; and input all required company, job, and employee data such as job code, employee name, department, and salary, prior to our arrival.

Training involves a review of the methods for modifying the JAQ, how to input factor weights, and the process for computing job evaluation points. We also demonstrate all the report options, using demo data. Since we are present for the first meeting with the task force who will review the JAQ, we provide this software training in the afternoon following that meeting.

Effective Workplace Strategies for Managers, Secretaries, and Assistants

Voice Mail, E-mail, Electronic Calendars, Desk-Top Publishing, Graphics and Presentation Programs -- all these jobs are dramatically transforming today's office. Many traditional secretarial duties have vanished. Add to this, corporate downsizing and delayering actions, and we find that secretaries and assistants are expected to absorb new administrative responsibilities formerly held by middle managers. But are they prepared to handle this new role? And, do managers know how to select appropriate assignments and empower their support staff to accept these new responsibilities? This highly interactive workshop offers managers and support staff specific strategies and tools to help each other strengthen their working relationships and increase effectiveness.

  • A manager and secretary or assistant attend this one-day workshop together and participate in a series of activity-based modules. They discover and develop complementary and supportive roles as they learn to:
    • Identify and understand the specific tasks that underlie critical management responsibilities.
    • Examine how and where along the path of tasks the secretary or assistant can most effectively contribute.
    • Negotiate who does what in the process.
    • Assess training needs.
    • Measure and optimize the new task assignments.
    • Identify and purge unnecessary tasks
